My first thought would be to try patching Aux in through the CD changer connection. It might just be coincidence, but there's a way connector on the unit, and the ISO C miscellaneous connector is also way. Maybe an amplifier? The whole section of the board seems all radio related multiple coils and capacitors - I added a picture of that. Perhaps on the cheaper sound system non-navigation the amplifier was in the head unit, but in the navigation upgrade they use a remotely located multi-channel amplifier. I searched around and found this. So it seems that there probably is no audio signal at all in the head unit.
